Travel: Tokyo Disneyland

The happiest place on earth? If you have an inner child and an open mind, then YES!

To all who come to this happy place, welcome. Here you will discover enchanted lands of Fantasy and Adventure, Yesterday and Tomorrow. May Tokyo Disneyland be an eternal source of joy, laughter, inspiration, and imagination to the peoples of the world. E. Cardon Walker, April 15, 1983

Lets go!

Let's go!

My last photo blog contained various snaps of my trips to Japan. This time I have focused on Tokyo Disneyland, the first Disney theme park to open outside of the US. As you’ll see, there is a lot of fun to be had and you can quickly get lost in the magic of the whole experience.

There was so much to see and do, I couldn’t capture it all in one post. A lot of the rides are either indoors and too dark, or too ‘busy’ to be able to use a camera but if you’re looking at Disney for the first time, that’s a good thing because you will be surprised and amazed when you finally go!

My favourite rides and attractions were the Pirates of the Caribbean, The Enchanted Tiki Room, Splash Mountain, Star Tours and Buzz Astro Blasters!

There are some great shops with mostly expensive merchandise but I recommend saving and planning to buy some as there are a lot of great toys, clothes, gadgets, accessories and more that you will regret not buying when you arrive home (speaking from experience unfortunately).

The food was well priced and tasty. In particular I want to mention my surprise at the many different popcorn flavours around. I had never heard of lime, curry, lemon or strawberry popcorn before but there was one of these and more at every stand in the park. The curry popcorn was actually my favourite!

I would love to go back to Tokyo Disneyland again one day! The music, dancing, characters, childhood memories, excitement and overall atmosphere is something special. It’s so well developed too, the train station takes you to the front door of the park and is linked to a great shopping complex (Ikspiari). Inside this complex is the monorail station that travels to the various Disney Hotels and also to Tokyo Disney Sea, a complete other theme park of it’s own!

Disneyland, the happiest place on earth!

Nice post – you went in May… I guess that’s very early summer. We were thinking of going in August, but were worried about the heat (especially for a 3yo). What would you recommend?
